How to do yoga for a beginner?

Hey, I’m 14….regular body weight and pretty healthy. I do exercise, but I just wanted to try yoga! Do any of you practice yoga on a regular basis, and would you recommend it? If so, how should I get started? How often and for how long should I do it? Thanks so much!

Exactly how healthy is Yoga when compared to other workout routines such as aerobics, jogging, etc.? Do you benefit more from yoga since you meditate and get about an hour of peace and quiet? Does it really benefit your “mind, body, and soul” better than regular workout routines?

Do you ppl suggest this is a healthy option?And will this facilitate in loosing weight rapidly?I want to maintain myself for life.

When the head is back and the belly is up, it looks a little like a dead fish floating on top of the water. Is that intentional? It doesn’t really seem like a healthy pose….seems a little morbid to me! And I already practice yoga, so no concern about that!

I asked my parent’s if I could take yoga classes. My father suggested I take one of his yoga books and just do it at home. Will using the book work just as well as being in a class? Oh and does it make you healthy and fit?

I used to work out on a exercise machine and it make you lose weight fast which I do not want. So I was thinking if I move to yoga it will help keep healthy and not burn fat. Will that work?I want to gain weight
