I’ve been reading about what the bloodstream does after you donate blood, and most things say you regain the plasma within 24 hours, but you don’t completely replace with new red blood cells until 8 weeks later.
So I was thinking about that 8 week period…while your body is making brand new red blood cells. You’d want to keep them as pretty and pristine as possible, right?
So does that mean the first few weeks after donating blood are an optimal time to be uber-healthy and/or “detox” the system? (I don’t mean pills or nonsense spam garbage, I mean like eating like an insane health nut and drinking a wowload of water)
Taking it a step further, say for instance we’re *only* going by this concept. In two years time, that would make all the red blood cells of a person’s entire bloodstream pristine, right?

Hello
My Boyfriend drinks and smokes (he smokes when he drinks but he can go without smoking for a few days if he doesn’t drink). He does drink quite a bit of wine though and probably every other night. I am always at him to stop smoking because he is not addicted and I also want him to excercise a bit and I keep telling him he would feel so much better. So now he has agreed to do a “DETOX” , meaning not smoking and drinking and me acting like some kind of fitnes guru for him-for a while. But he always needs a plan and I need to come up with one…LOL…I mean I was thinking of taking him on some hikes and obviously good healthy food.He has trouble sleeping when he isn’t drunk..so I told him after a good hike he will sleep like a baby ! So any other ideas??? How can I get all this crapp out of his systhem and make him feel sooo good that he will want to continue a healthy lifestyle?
Hope you guys have ideas !!
Thank you !!!

I’ve been eating junk food for far too long, does anyone know of a diet to totally detox my body from all that junk food? I don’t need to lose weight i just need to totally cleanse myself of the crap food, and start feeling healthy.
p.s. How long does it usually take to completely detox your body of all the toxins?

I just need to get rid of water and/0r salt bloat. Whats a good fast or liquid fast? How about juiceing diets? And I use the word diet meaning a change in eatting! Please do not answer with nasty comments about diets ( past questions!) I just love to eat healthy and would like to detox! I have been bad! Bad foods, late night eatting…etc! Thanks!

They did it on LA Ink before.
I’m thinking about doing this, just for a fresh start to the new year. I’m not trying to lose weight – just trying to detoxify myself and be healthier. Anyone ever done something like this? What was it like?

What exactly does a detox diet do?
who should do it?
What are some diets to try?
I am starting a new healthy lifestyle. i am eating healthy, exercising…this is after years of laziness, unk food, smoking, drinking. Would i be a candidate for a detox? I ust started changing my habits.

When you water fast, you go into ketosis, which means your body protects it’s muscle and burns the fat. Apparently, according to many studies water fasting is very healthy and helps to detox the body. However, some people argue that the body can naturally detox itself and therefore water fasting is harmful.
For those of you who don’t know what a water fast is, it is basically consuming no food, and just pure water. You get 0 calories a day, but it is different from starvation. Starvation is when the body is forced to break down vital nutrients. On a fast, this doesn’t happen unless its for over 50 days or so.
But, what I want to know is, what is more healthy water fasting (0 calories per day and go into ketosis) or 600 calories per day (no ketosis)
Please only answers from people who can understand this, no lectures either. I know what I am doing thank you.

is eating fruits for 48 hours healthy because i want to detox my body before starting my diet on sunday?

I’m not saying that eating lots of junk food is good for you.
I feel that balance is key. Obviously you shouldn’t center your diet on processed junk, BUT…you also don’t need to be on a detox like diet all your life to be healthy. I feel that detox like diets don’t give you any additional benefits to what a normal balanced diet can provide.
I get the impression that many nutritionists nowadays imply that you have to eat lots of vegetables and fruit etc in order to stay healthy. In my experience, eating simple foods that are easy to digest (as a baseline) and then throwing in the odd “super healthy food” does my health a lot better than in the days where I used to go on obsesively strict “pure” diets.
In my own experience too, when I speak to elderly ones, they tell me what they’re main foods used to be, and it was really basic stuff. I’ve asked the most healthy people I’ve known (hardly even get a cold in years), and they’re diets aren’t jam packed with fruit & veg….
I went to a Scottish museum a while ago, and contrary to what we’ve been told about life expectancy in the “olden days” (around 18th century), the Scottish farmers (who’s diet was basic, mainly potatoes) had a pretty long life expectancy…some lived to 100!
Obviously, environment and medical science plays a big role in mortality rates, but does the diet have to be “super clean” in order to live longer and healthier?
Mr. Jessup – yes that’s another story; fat is treated like an enemy now, but in like the 50′s, they used to eat loads of it, piling on the saturated fats…have heart disease etc gone down since we’ve lowed fats (especially saturated? No, they’ve increased because of the rise in trans fats and sugar! The three types of fats (even saturated) are good for you in moderation, but not the trans fats because they cannot be broken down by the body.
Adding sugar and refined flower etc to the equation is what causes the main problem.
shop2ear… You didn’t understand my question, what I’m asking is, can you stay healthy and live longer by eating a pretty nuetral diet (e.g. meat and potatoes, with SOME other veg too) and still stay healthy rather than eating LOTS of veg and fruit?
Obviously, eating cakes and processed foods isn’t going to do you good.
Asasasasa D – the reason why detox diets seem to have an edge over normal balanced diets for weight loss is simply because sodium levels are low and so are carbs, this in turn causes you to lose water retention which makes you slimmer (it isn’t fat loss). Another reason, is because you consume very little protein, this in turn causes you to lose valuable muscle. As soon as weight is lost on the scales, a person thinks they’re succeeding, but in reality, they’re just slowing down their metabolism and getting less firm due to muscle loss.
Suzy – I’m really sorry for your sister. You are right, it can’t cure everything.

Besides exercise and eating healthy?
Any detox system, herbs or something that kept your metabolism higher to maintain a lower weight?
And anything to help curb appetite

I would like to lose 5- 10 lbs. Is there any really great detox/ exercise programs?

I had a baby three months ago and am struggling to let go of these last pounds… For the past two weeks I’ve been very carefully with what I’ve been eating: healthy breakfasts, fruits and veggies, and/or organic chicken/fish with salads or rice for dinner. I seem to be more flatulent than usual though, does this mean my body is getting rid of all the bad toxins in my body? I would also like to note that I drink nothing but water and am breastfeeding.

I dont want to go and buy some kit like Dr. S. i just want to eat healthy like eat veggies or something like that. drink tea. any suggestions??

I am 20 years old and would like to do the Detox diet. I often feel tired and sluggish and my main concern is my digestive system. I often go days at a time without using the rest room, but then when I do go it is diarreha. Among becoming healthier I would like to lose a little weight, around 10 lbs. Is there any websites that I could go to to get more info on how to begin this diet..thanks!!!

Or is that really unhealthy?
I want to cleanse my body from all the toxins we put in it from processed food.*
That means I’ll just eat fresh fruit and some veggies and only water for about 2 weeks.
Is this healthy for me?
I wanted to see if this would be any harm to my body you b*tch!
because obviously I wouldn’t be getting calcium or grains !

Im a 28/female. Im trying to lose like 30 pounds in order for me to be at my ideal healthy weight. I just ordered a free trial of acai berry detox. Ive heard so many great things about it lately. Has anyone on here seriously tried it? And if so how is it working for you? And how long did it take to get in the mail?

Okay well I just got a new job, which I really need too, Im probably going to start within the next 2 weeks. But the thing is I just found out that we need to have a drug test taken before we start there. It is going to be a urine test I know. I am by no means a pothead but a few nights ago (before I had any clue about the test) I had about 2 hits. Before that I havent smoked any pot since about 2 months ago. I am wondering how long will it take to get out of your system. I hear diffrent stuff like anywhere from 1 day to 2 months. I am a very infrequent user and I have a pretty high metabolism so I’m hoping to have it out by the next week or two. I take cranberry supplements and drink cranberry juice everyday (for diffrent reasons) so I dont know if that may help too. I am also on a detox program sort of. (I started before just to be healthy) its a whole body detox, with milk thistle and other crap. I wonder if that may help too? Any help is much appreciated

What should you do after you’ve completed the lemon detox? Like what foods should you eat and what should you drink.
My mom’s friend told me to be careful because I could put myself in shock if I’m not careful enough after the detox. I’m on the detox now. I plan on stopping in about 5-6 more days. But I need to know how I can careful/healthy, go back to a normal diet without hurting myself. Thanks in advance

Type Two…four kids later and wishing to have one more

I am very thin, I’m 5’6 and weigh 100lbs even and i’m looking to gain healthy weight and be more healthy especially for my skin. So i’m looking to first detox my body to then start eating a lot more healthy…. what is a good way for ME to detox my body without losing so much weight from it??

My BMI is low (below 18.), but I still feel fat and blubbery I just want to FEEL healthy! I don’t care about the weight factor anymore. I want to feel clean inside and out.
How do I go about that?
What kind of diet should I partake?
How long till I feel or see results from clean eating?
just in advanced – Thanks so much for your answers!

So, I’m thinking about fasting for health reasons, not religious. I’ve heard it can be a healthy detox procedure and can even lengthen your overall lifetime. However, I’m not sure how long I should fast. Any thoughts?
I’m not doing it to lose weight either. I’m sitting at 6 foot even, 155-160 lbs, roughly 5% body fat. Losing weight is not the goal at all. Haha, the increased fat storage may be healthy.

I want to become healthier and do something nice for my body. What has worked for you?

My man is a pretty healthy bloke. But lately he’s been eating a lot of real crappy food ie. maccas and KFC. He’s a guitarist and he thinks his diet of late has been making him uncreative, lathargic, bitter and in a bad mood all the time. And he says his stomach is feeling pretty nasty. I suggested for him to try a detox (one of the healthy ones where you still eat). Any suggestions on what detox would be good for him?

i am wanting to read up more about organic foods, healthy eating, detoxification, etc. Can anyone give me the names of some good informative books?

it seems completely natural and healthy, im just wondering
