16 Have you found evidence of drug paraphernalia such as pipes, rolling papers, etc?
17 Have you found inhaling products (such as hairspray, nail polish, correction fluid, etc)? Or rags and paper bags that are sometimes used as inhalant accessories?
18 Have you found bottles of eye drops, which may be used to mask bloodshot eyes or dilated pupils?
19 Have you found that he or she has come home after school or after being out with the smell of mouthwash or breath mints to cover up the smell of alcohol?
20 Have you found that you are missing prescription drugs?
If you answered yes or I don’t know to even a few of these questions your child could be at HIGH RISK for drug / alcohol use!
Answering "Yes" or "I Don’t Know" to even some of the questions is a sign that you should take a closer look at this critical problem and address your teen’s possible drug use or drinking now. Don’t let another minute go by.
If you answered NO to most or all of the questions than your son or daughter has a LOW RISK for using drugs or drinking alcohol.
You answered "no" to most or all of the questions that is a good sign, However, you should stay alert for signs of trouble by staying informed and staying involved in your teen’s life. This is an excellent time to repeat your family’s rules and ask about how they are handling the pressures of drug use within their group of friends. It’s great to be able to say, "I’m so proud of you for not using." Use this opportunity to reinforce the positive choices your child is making.
