This is a project that I made for one of my Visual Communications classes for my Graphic Design degree. The assignment was to make a hand-made book of any type that would address a global issue that could be brought to light through the use of Graphic Design. I chose the issue of Alcoholism in our nation and around the world. I chose to bring this nasty issue to light and exploit it for all of its ugliness through the healthy and positive lifestyle change and movement, known as “Straight Edge”. Being Edge, myself, I thought this project would be a great opportunity and a vehicle through which to share how this amazing movement and lifestyle completely changed my life and made me a better human being, in a positive way! enjoy! (note: background music by Verse) also, the project wasn’t fully done at this point, but the groundwork had been laid down for most of it. i just wanted to add images of different types of ads, from major alcohol companies in the blank spaces on each cardboard tablet. you get the general idea and philosophy behind the project though!

@thenewtalkingguitar dont be a retard…You need those things..think of straight edge as…not being an idiot and conforming to the rest of todays generation by partying, drinking, and doing unessesary drugs. Be present. be sober.
@TDSkating being a struggling Christian, i know where you’re coming from. fortunately, i can help. Straight Edge, by itself, originally had no ties to any type, creed or denomination of any religion, whatsoever, but you can be SXE and be religious too. there’s like sub-sects of the movement.
does sXe have anything to do with religion bcuz im new to it and im christian. can i take pride in not poisoning my body by drugs and alcohol as a sXe bcuz some ppl say you have to be religion free.
I am edge for 3 weeks now I will stay forever !!!
@FENRISFENRIRWOLF Dude, tell those kids Fuck you, SxE has nothing to do with being a vegan and i’m getting so fucking tired of people thinking that. I’ve been SxE basically my whole life I don’t know why or when the fuck veganism came into the picture but it has absolutely nothing to do with it, those kids are just fucking dumb asses.
i have one question, i don’t know if I can be considered straight edge or not since I think that perscription medicine is okay, only if it is going to help you.
@hellafuckedup couldnt be more wrong friend read sxe music isnt self loathing like emo music its very uplifting and as of late the emo secene has come in but there was a time where edge was all about uplifting your fellow friends and showing the world that you can have just as much fun without causing harm to your body by downing harmfull stuff
fuck yeah bro!!!!!!!!!! im a proud member of straight edge man since i was 18 im 22 now and i have to say it changed my life so much for the better man
ive drank 2 times and hell no i will not drink again. im glade i do not drink or do drugs im the odd one in the family i dont party or smoke weed etc…. like the vid keep it up
r u still hxc cuz one guy said u were high in your new vid im jw
you guys should smoke pot though if its smoked through a vape theres no damage done ever and it makes life more fun, and lets face it most you “straightedge” kids are for better or worse another knockoff of emo kids so in the end it is for worse smoke some pot life isnt that apathetic just have to be positive and not listen to that faggot shit music with the screaming about life being horrible. smoke a bowl and kick it with the homies and live in the fucking moment.
awesome video man.
XXX
wow retart
u can use straight edge anyway u want, i use it as no drugs, cigarettes or alchohol, othr ppl do difrnt stuf, but it basically its no drugs nd alcohol
no problem
haha no way man. that’s not true. don’t feel bad. as long as you claim it and keep it true in your life, that’s it!
thanks dude. the guy above doesn’t understand
Oh yea I almost forgot to ask They say there’s more to edge them just the lifetime commitment of abstaining from drugs, alcohol & casual sex, etc that not everone can claim edge if their not involved or whatever. what does that entail? I’ve never been to a show in my life (regretably) what would I have to do? I don’t want to be a called a poser. I have more respect for edge than that.
so everyone thats edge is doing it jsut to join the “trend?” how can you be for certain that every edge kid is not doing it for there own resaons. your an idiot what are you everyones brains?
and if you want to say xxx was used for alchol well it also means 30, its a movie with the fagol vin diesel. xxx means numerous things know what your saying
This is just a trend. People trying to make themselves better than everyone else. Also if you’re edge that means you cannot take any medication.
If you ever get sick or end up having to go to the hospital you MUST refuse any medication or pain killers because they are also drugs.
Btw, XXX used to be the way the bootleggers labeled alcohol. Therefore, XXX = Alcohol. So there are idiots out there with XXX tattoos that are pretty much representing alcohol. Good job.
Thx for the advice man. I don’t drink, smoke, do drugs, or engage in promiscuisous sex, i eat my vegies and eat meat moderately but i don’t try to push my values down anyone’s throat. Stay Posi
peace homie =]
that’s not true. Edge has connections with veganism, but Edge is it’s own thing. you do NOT have to become a vegan to be Edge. they are two different things. some people who are Edge and Vegan and don’t have sex are considered “Hardline”. but to answer your question. no you don’t have to be vegan. go ahead and wear your sXe shirt with pride =]
I’m new to sXe and i keep hearing ppl say that you have to vegan to be claim sXe. I know originally veganism was a separate idea as sXe but I also understand times have changed and they keep saying that veganism is a logical extension to the same ideal therefore it is impossible. what do you think. should i be able to wear a sXe shirt without being a hypocrite?
i saw them less than a year before they broke up. they played a local hardcore show for us with HH
did you go to there last shows?
